Canadian County Halloween Happenings

October 5th – “Pumpkin fest” Children Ages 6-11 are invited to a night of fun at the Yukon Community Center WITHOUT their parents. come play games, make crafts and enjoy snacks! This event is held at the Yukon Community Center 2200 S. Holly Ave (6:30pm-10:00pm)

October 12th - Mustang Mummy & Son Masquerade Ball at Mustang Town Center (1501 N Mustang Rd, Mustang) features a costume-themed dance for mothers and sons, ages 4 and up, including crafts, games and refreshments. Preregister, space is limited. $7. (7:00pm-9:00pm)

October 19th – Annual pumpkin roll. Participants of all ages are invited to bring their pumpkins to Boot Hill and Participate in the Pumpkin Roll! You may decorate your pumpkin beforehand or stop by the Chisholm Trail Pavilion at 12:00pm and decorate your pumpkin with the Community Center Staff. Prizes will be available for different categories; family friendly costumes are welcome. This event will be held at Chisholm Trail Park 500 W. Vandament. (1:00pm-2:00pm)

October 19th - Movie at the coop. This year's Movie at the Coop will be showing "Disney’s Haunted Mansion". Admission is FREE. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and enjoy this classic family film. Movie will start at Dusk. Popcorn and concessions will be available for purchase. In case of inclement weather, the movie will be moved inside Yukon’s Jackie Cooper Gym 1024 E. Main. (7:00pm-10:00pm)

October 19th – Potions class. For tweens, grades 3-6. It's spooky chemistry night with Ms. Jen making DIY Halloween snacks and props. Must pre-register by going to http://mustangpubliclibrary.eventbrite.com.

October 22nd – Zombie dodge ball. Are you ready to join the walking dead? Join the Yukon Community Center Staff for some dodgeball, zombie style! Come dressed up as your best zombie and join Okie Artistry Face Painting at 11am at the Community Center to add the finishing touches. Dodgeball games will start at 12:00 noon in the Gymnasium for ages 10 and up. There will also be hot chocolate, popcorn, and a family friendly movie showing in the lobby for all ages. This event is held at the Yukon Community Center 2200 S. Holly Ave. (11:00am-3:00pm)

October 27th - “Spooksville” at the Yukon Community Center (2200 S Holly Ave, Yukon) features a dog costume contest, kids costume contest, carnival area with games, clowns, magicians and lots of treats. Costumes encourages. Kids, $3; adults, free. 2 – 6 p.m (3:00pm-6:00pm)

October 27th – Mustang Spooktacular Halloween carnival.  Spooktacular at Wild Horse Park! Inflatables, over 60 carnival games, Bingo, Food Trucks, Senior Center Maze, Little Ones area (designed for under 5 years of age) (5:00pm-8:00pm)

October 27th – Fort reno ghost tours. Come along on an exciting and spooky ghost tour at El Reno's historic Fort Reno. This ghost tour includes plenty of ghost stories and demonstrations by paranormal studies groups. Take a walking tour of this historic area and listen as knowledgeable guides provide information on Fort Reno's haunted past and present. Fort Reno, which began as a military camp in 1874, was established for the protection of the Cheyenne and Arapaho tribes. Fort Reno is also famous for the African American Buffalo Soldiers that were stationed there, its role in the Land Run of 1889 and as a historic location for German POWs during WWII.

October 27th – Spooktacular festivities. Downtown businesses host safe daylight trick or treating experience for children of all ages. A costume contest is held at The Centre Theatre downtown beginning at 9:00 am. Prizes are given in different categories. Approximately 400 children participate in the costume contest and hundreds of children visit historic downtown El Reno during this Halloween celebration. (9:00am-11:00am)

October 28th - Yukon’s Mummy & Son Masquerade at the Jackie Cooper Gym (1024 E Main, Yukon) features carnival games, costume contest, hot dogs, spooky music and lots of candy for boys ages 4-12 & their "mummies." $4 in advance; $5 the day of the event. (6:00pm-8:00pm)
