District 3 Projects

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Canadian County District 3 is pleased to announce planned infrastructure improvements to Historic Route 66, extending from U.S. Highway 270 east approximately 4.5 miles to Interstate 40. These improvements are designed to enhance safety and functionality along this critical transportation corridor and will include the widening of travel lanes, the addition of paved shoulders, and improvements to existing bridge structures.

In coordination with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT), the County has emphasized the regional and historical significance of this roadway and to make sure the historic integrity of the roadway is preserved as part of these improvements. As a result of this collaboration, $4 million in state and federal funding has been secured for the project, with an additional $4 million in funding anticipated within the next year.

Engineering design is currently underway, and construction funding is in place, positioning the project to proceed promptly upon completion of final plans. Canadian County is pleased to have secured the necessary resources to advance these improvements, which will strengthen infrastructure, enhance public safety, and support the long-term transportation needs of District 3 and the broader community.
